Barbara "Barb" A. Miller

Barbara Ann (Livingston) Burkhiser Miller, the daughter of Kenneth Earl and Rubye Elaine (Johnson) Livingston, was born October 8, 1947 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She passed away September 9, 2015 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. She was 67 years old.
Barb was born and raised on her family farm south of Farragut. In June 1966, Barb was married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa, to John Burkhiser, also of rural Farragut, Iowa. John and Barb raised three children, Michele, Christin and Jason, in the Farragut area. Later in life, she married Tom Miller on January 8, 2000 at the Congregational Church in Farragut, Iowa, and became stepmother to his four children, Tammy, Doug, Angie and Mary. Tom and Barb were married nearly 16 years.
Barb graduated from Farragut High School with the class of 1966. In 1992, she received her Paralegal degree from Iowa Western Community College.
Barb worked for the Shenandoah Medical Center as a scheduler, Dr. Belknap as a Dental Assistant, Farragut Co-op as a bookkeeper and at the Evening Sentinel also as bookkeeper.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Rubye Livingston and a grandson Bryant Lashier.
Barb is survived by her husband Tom Miller of Farragut, Iowa, sister Denise Hammer and husband Denny of Tabor, Iowa, daughter Michele Burkhiser and friend Clint Althaus of Long Grove, Iowa and her children Hannah, Gretchen, Nathan, Rachel Wilkerson, daughter Christin Dirks and husband Jeff of Ankeny, Iowa and their children Courtney and Nick Lashier and Jason Dirks, son Jason Burkhiser and friend Krista Honig of Omaha, Nebraska and his son Ian Burkhiser, stepdaughter Tammy Wingad, and husband Jes of Red Oak, Iowa and their children Miranda Meier, Alex and Morgan McFarland, Gage and Jackie Wingad, stepson Doug Sexton and wife Sandy and their children Cody and Tyler Miller, Megan Stewart, Douglas, Jr. and Johnathan Sexton, stepdaughter Angie Williams and husband Casey of Kansas City, Missouri and their children Aidan and Brodie Williams, stepdaughter Mary Pelster and husband Steven of Shenandoah, Iowa and their children Ricky Bisbee, Hanah and Grace Pelster, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
