Thoughts?
This site is dedicated to the history, photos, and people who have been part of Farragut’s story and contributed to making the biggest little city in Iowa such a success. We have all had the privilege and opportunity to be part of a small rural community surrounded by the best farm families in the country.
Though small in size, Farragut has produced people of remarkable character and achievement, including world-class military officers, public servants, teachers, lawyers, doctors, and farmers. Our town was named after Admiral Farragut, who joined the Navy at just nine years old. His famous proclamation during the Battle of Mobile Bay—“Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!”—continues to reflect the determined spirit that has guided Farragut from the beginning.
From time to time, people who have played a role in Farragut’s success story share editorials, essays, inspirational letters, memories, and reflections that we can all enjoy and learn from. That is why we have added this section, titled “Thoughts.”
We hope this will be an open and welcoming forum where you can share something you have written—whether it is helpful, inspiring, interesting, entertaining, or simply meaningful to you. Each contributor’s name will appear on this page as a clickable link, allowing readers to open and enjoy the submitted piece.
We invite you to enjoy the submissions and consider sharing an item of your own. To submit your offering, please email: info@farraguthomeoftheadmirals.com
Thank you and enjoy!
