Max Leon Livingston

November 11, 1933 – Jul 25, 1995

Max L. Livingston, son of Loren L. and Geneva A. (Pierce) Livingston, was born November 11, 1933 at Hamburg, Iowa, and passed away, July 25, 1995, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Shenandoah, Iowa.

On June 4, 1954, Max was united in marriage with Charlotte Burroughs at Farragut, Iowa, and to this union one son, Kevin and one daughter, Karla, were born.

In 1956, Max entered the US Army, serving until 1958.  After returning from the service, they lived in Farragut one year before moving to Tarkio, Missouri where he attended Tarkio College, graduating in 1963.  He taught school in Tarkio for two years before moving back to Farragut in the fall of 1965 where he taught and coached in the Farragut school system for 15 years.  While teaching he furthered his education at Iowa State and Northwest Missouri State, receiving his Masters degree in 1969.  After teaching he worked for Farm Bureau Insurance.

In 1988, declining health forced him to retire from Farm Bureau, and he took up woodworking, which he enjoyed, and was noted by many people for his beautiful work.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law, Kenneth Durfey.

Max is survived by his wife Charlotte of Farragut; son Kevin Livingston and his wife Julie of Belton, MO; daughter, Karla and husband Marty Owens of Council Bluffs, IA; two grandchildren, Jesina and Jared Livingston; one sister, Lola May and husband Herman Ossian of Farragut; one brother, Kenneth Livingston and his wife Rubye, of Farragut; one aunt, Dorothy Nocton of Farragut; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
