Dean Harris, age 63 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Wednesday; October 14, 2015 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
He was born Kenneth Dean Harris on July 25, 1952 in Springfield, MO; the oldest child of Kenneth Ray and Helen Christine (Long) Harris. Dean attended school and graduated from the Farragut High School with the class of 1971.
He was united in marriage to Theresa M. Whelan on June 18, 1976 in Hamburg, IA and to this union two sons were born: Anthony and Brian. Dean was a long-time and active member of the Assembly of God Church in Hamburg and served the church in various capacities. He also devoted many years to the Hamburg Rescue. He will be remembered for the 35 years that he was Santa Claus in and around Hamburg.
Dean worked in the Auto Parts Store Business for many years and worked in various locations. He also worked at the Tarkio Academy as a Counselor.
He is survived by his wife Theresa Harris of Hamburg, IA; two sons: Anthony Dean Harris and wife Carrie of Indianola, IA and Brian Scott Harris and significant other Amanda Barton of Hamburg, IA; three grandchildren: Christian Harris, Mark Harris and Hermione Harris; his parents Kenneth R. and Helen C. Harris of Springfield, MO; a sister Deb Livingston of Crane, MO; two brothers: Randall Harris and wife Jacquie of Council Bluffs, IA and Dennis Harris of Stuart, IA; mother-in-law Lois Whelan of Watson, MO; sister in law Annie Wakefield of Watson, MO; brother in law Tim Whelan and wife Donna of Watson, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
