Larry Richard Gruber
March 22, 1947 – November 19, 2016

Larry Richard Gruber, the son of Richard Livingston Gruber and Margery Georgene Whitehill Gruber, was born on March 22, 1947 at Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa. He entered into rest on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at his home in rural Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 69.

Larry spent his entire life in the rural Farragut, Iowa, with the exception of his time with the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 leaving with the rank of SP-4. Larry attended and graduated from the Farragut High School in 1965. While in school he participated in 4-H for eight years, and played football, basketball, and ran track. Larry went on to Iowa Western Community College, Northwest Missouri State University where he studied Agra-Science.

Larry enjoyed being a farmer, farming since 1970, He had many interests, music, going to concerts, traveling, going to the movies, trying new restaurants, tracking and studying the markets (and beating them). Larry was an avid sports fan of the Chiefs, Hawkeyes, Lakers, Cubs. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Locust Grove Cemetery Trustee, Amvets and Elks Lodge #1122.

He was united in marriage to Lena Johnson on February 4, 1995 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Margery and his brother, Bruce Gruber.

Survivors include his wife Lena of the home; daughters, Ginger Gruber of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Hulsing and husband Cory of Morristown, MN., Misty Miller and husband Tony of Lincoln, NE., Julie Glandoff and husband Larry of Williamsburg, IA.; son, Jimmy Miller and wife Stephanie of Mardela Springs, MD.; nine grandchildren; father, Richard Gruber of Shenandoah, IA.; sisters, Jean Ann James of North Liberty, IA., and Janelle Kroska of Pomeroy, IA.; many nieces nephew, other relatives and friends.

Burial was held at the Locust Grove Cemetery with military rites.
