Larry   Gene Durfey, son of Kenneth and Lola May (Livingston) Durfey Ossian, was born August 4, 1940, in Farragut, Iowa, and passed away August 6, 2001, at the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Hospital in Maywood, Illinois.

Growing up in Farragut, Larry received his education in the Farragut school system.  After high school he served in the US Air Force for four years and components of the US Army for 26 years, which included service in Korea, Republic of Vietnam, Scandinavia, Panama, Honduras, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Alaska and numerous stateside locations.  Larry was honored for his dedicated service by receiving decorations which included the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

During his working career Larry was the head of maintenance at Grape Community Hospital, farmed, was a truck drive
