Coach Francis Long introduced 6-man football in High School.

1938 – First year of football at Farragut High School. In the first game, Coach Francis Long led his 6-Man team to a victory over Anderson.

Farragut High School played Tabor’s 6-man football team and “took everything but their uniforms”.
1941 – Dale Hackett joins the Farragut faculty and becomes the head football coach

Dale Hackett was named Coach of the Year by Fred Hawks, sports editor of the “Council Bluffs Nonpareil” newspaper. The football team has not lost a game since 1951.

2002 – Farragut’s first year of 8-Man football (School Year 2002-03)
The 2002 team became the only Farragut football team that participated in a State Playoff Championship game. They finished the season with a record of 10 wins 1 loss following their 44-34 title game loss to Sentral of Fenton on Nov 23, 2002. Played in the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA, the tournament field expanded to an 8-team bracket for the 2002 season.
